sleeping at the earliest 2 am and the latest 5 am... thats when my maid wakes up yup i'm football crazy.. Currently at approx 3:28 am of 13th June 08 I'm watching Austria vs Poland.. I'm rooting for Austria even though they suck and they are currently behind now. Why I support them, Cos they are the underdogs thats why.Its like why do you always root for Rocky Balboa when he is down and he suck( in the final movie that is) because their no better sensational story when an underdog beat a giant, David vs Goliath, Michael Campbell beating Tiger Woods and the rest of the world in the U.S open... Thats the freaking way we were built. Well I'm not here to talk about teh underdogs but the contenders.
The way I see it, so far the team to beat are the Dutch . The way they destroy the world champs ( more like chumps) was sensational. It was counter attacking football at its best. Total Football dutch style. The squad is filled with attacking talents with the likes of Ruud, Rafael, Wesley,Robin, Arjen the list goes on.. the only prob i have with them is their defense. A bit shaky..
My next favorite would be.. yes girls the team Cristiano Ronaldo is representing Portugal. They are just playing flair footie. WHOA!! great football just great the way they beat Turkey(2-0) and Czech's(3-1). LIke the dutch the defence a bit nimble but with players like Ronaldo, Simao, Qurasema, Moutinho... Who needs defending...
Lets do the Villa..Villa..Villa.. yup the Spaniards are also in the running after the drubbing of the Russian. May I remind you the Russians beat England.. Yes the Not so mighty lost to the KGB like Russian and these dudes lost to Spain.. Like Portugal they are a very fast team( a lot of pace to burn) and like to go on the counter like the dutch. With Torres and Villa up front well it will be raining goals. Midfield bolter with the likes of Fabregas, Xavi, Iniesta, Silva, Alonso and i my view a very underrated player,Senna.. What a team. But like the teams that was mention before .. their defense don look that convincing.
Not to forget the likes of France which seriously have a very poor opening game, Italian...got Mob by the Dutch gang bangers,Germans just loss to the dark horse of the tourney, Croatia. The Croat's was superb against the Germans.. The closed down on the Germans like the German players were Candy man and the Croat's are those lil buggers who want the candy.. haaha.. No disrespect but Croatia played really well. Closing down fast and being clinical at the back and the front.And oh yeah Jens Lehmann loves ball.. literally.. he likes it like he likes apple.. hahaha
